Oni's always been a regular at the library. Riye might notice ever since the beginning of December his choices in titles have changed slightly, growing increasingly more terrible as time progresses... and looking her dead in the eye as he checks them out. It's still early on - how is he gonna beat The Human Santapede?!]
Didn't you know? We're getting ready for the changing season.
[He seems unaffected by her sarcasm like every other previous engagement.]
Do you have any recommendations for tomorrow?
[Did you just imply this is going to continue...]

[Nevertheless, she got up from her desk very slowly. She walked away, down the halls of the library.]
...Wait there.
[Wait, what was she doing? Face it, this is funny. You're either humoring the idea or making sure he's not turning you into a joke. The fact you can't predict that, and you WANTING to, is just that strange. Assume it's the later, and brace yourself for anything. DO your job, dammit.
A few minutes later, she returned with a few books. Quite a few.]

["It could be worse" would just be asking for it, but... it could get so much worse. There is the rest of December, after all.
He lets her go, patiently waiting in front of the librarian's desk. No fidgeting or wandering hands to flick through the pages of the latest novel. Oni only clasps them behind his back, idly noting anything of interest that might be kept there: the desk arrangement, any personal items, whatever the other patrons have borrowed out lately etc. until she returns.]
Vampires? The third instalment of a Christmas racing romance? A mystery between a close-knit group of friends?
[That smile is still in place, as he lowers the latest of her chosen titles.]
I'd request to put them on hold, but it's unlikely someone would want to borrow any of these.
[even if 'tis the season.]

[She's already been through her worst hell. She can't assume things couldn't get worse. That just opens your gut out. That would literally have been the last thing she would say in the matter before the new books arrived.]
I dusted off the cobwebs just for you. But really, there's nothing more derelict than that side of the holiday section.
no subject
[Now, is he just entertaining the idea for fun, or is this an overactive imagination influenced by the things that he's been reading? Or maybe he's dead serious. Mysteries... much like the potential """treasures""" that could have been forgotten here. Apparently.]
This one will do, for now.
[He raises The Human Santapede, fully intent on leaving those recommendations for the following week.]
no subject
[Alright, but she'll just kind of shove them to the side for later. You know, customer service. Too lazy to put them back, which ever.]
no subject
That would work in your favour, if the plan was to drive them away.
[Unprofessional? Probably.]
Lay eyes on anything worse than holiday horror, and they're unlikely to ever be the same again.
