[Sometime before this.]

[Abbies eyes spots a familiar girl while on his morning jog. He remembers that the bespectacled girl had talk to both his brothers during the cook out some days back. From that fact alone, she might know a thing or two.

He jogs towards her and once he's close, he slows down and waves.]

Good morning!

[She was on her way to the library to start working when she ran into this one.

Okay, one of the brothers. Now, which one? Chipper, too happy. Ah, that one. He was getting too awfully chummy with her for being a stranger. Riye, being who she was, didn't expect this to be just an innocent hello. It didn't feel right.]

It might be.

[Why, he's nothing but a cheerful morning person, ready to greet the day and fellow morning people.]

No one's trying to run an underground business yet this hour, so it's a pretty good morning.

[He laughs good-naturedly, like he just didn't just fling a snark back at her.]

[Oh, okay. That snark with that smile? Actually this is hell.]

I don't know, the point of having an underground business is not showing plain evidence of anyone running one. If too many people knew, it could wreck the cash flow.

[He just keeps smiling and laughing along- well at least until he folds his arms together and pretends to think.]

Hmm... Well that is true, but you know how it is, sometimes you paint a target on someone's back and it still takes a miraculous shot to come even close to the target.

[Normally, snark levels would make a conversation interesting and maybe something she wanted to take a part of.

But this? It seemed fake. Nothing about the thought process seemed genuine coming from this particular brother. Like almost as if he feigned interest all together.

Insulting, just a tad.]

But you're not here to talk about taboo cartels.

[He has to give her credit for cutting straight to the point, just a bit. Abies blinks and tilts his head before snapping back up.]

Oh, that's right! I got carried away just now. This seems a bit sudden but um... I saw you talking to both Larix-niisan and Yotsuba-niisan before, and I was wondering, are you friends with them?

[Saw? So he was eyeing on what they were doing? That didn't sound creepy at all.

Larix was a special head case, and Yotsuba was...well, were they friends? It was hard to really say, they acted friendly to each other at this point but it was hard for Riye to use the term "friend" lightly.

Why ask that though? As she had a sibling of her own, you don't ask something like that unless if you wanted something. Maybe about "7 out of 10" times, it wasn't something good.]

I might be, or I might not. We spoke a couple of times.

[Abies starts to hum, contemplating. He puts his hand in his pocket as he tilts his head curiously.]

Then what do you see them as?

[Not only was that personal, even she wasn't so sure at this point in time. What did this guy even WANT??]

Siblings from a family that has enough dysfunction to make sitcom families blush.

Really?

[He asks in a matter as if Riye had told him a minor mistake or some small fact of some baseball player.]

That sounds pretty observant, you have a good eye.

[Or you've been hanging with one or both of them enough to know what they're like beyond just 'they're weird'.]

[Ah... He'd given Yotsuba an ample amount of time to do this on his own, but two weeks have come and gone, yet still no progress. It would seem that an extra push is necessary.

But fear not! Match-maker wingman Jinmenju is on the case!]

[On a hindsight, he saw it coming a mile away the moment he had noticed the two interacting during the cookout in February. Only a true idiot would be oblivious that, after so many years- a whole decade of Yotsuba slowly closing himself from everyone, something or someone has taken the fourth brother's attention so much. And, Abies is by no means an idiot.

There's a lot of factors why he decided to take his time with this instead of swooping in like when Larix told him of Schneewitten. Namely, there might actually be something going on with this and that meant to see the possible outcomes. They may have the same desires at times but even with the same thing in mind, they all deal things differently and Abies isn't particularly fond of coming across... a particularly shitty outcome about this. That's why he waited and observed, and coming to narrowing it down to two possibilities.

He waits in front of Riye's shared room, hands on his pocket and sporting no smile. When she arrives, his gaze shifts from the blank space to her without a word. He's waiting for her reaction finding him approaching her again with silent intent.]

[It was like any other day. In Koriko maybe. A dash of stupid with also what to expect around these parts. She was on her way to the room and to decompress. Riye brought over a few more books from the library.

That was when she noticed a guy by the door, looking like he was waiting for someone. Eyeballing her as she was about to go inside, also noticing that this was one of them. Though she had a hard time figuring who it was out of the siblings this time. No fake smile, or crazed smile, definitely not Larix or Yotsuba. Maybe not Levant, Levant acted a lot less...weird. Levant was still weird but not that weird.]

Uh, yes? Can I help you?

[It's been weeks and Larix is still pretty giddy about the whole play thing. He wants desperately to go oup and perform again and never leave, but alas, he must wait until another script is produced. There... will be one, right? Surely that one was just the start of things!

Well, you know, it might not hurt to have it casually pop up in conversation or something. Since he's bringing Riye a thank-you gift anyway...

Here he is at her door, a bouquet of blue roses and nightshade in hand. Knock knock.]

[Since Larix never mentioned anything before, Riye hadn't worked on another script and was busy with her own affairs. There was feeling like it wasn't a useless venture and giving him a somewhat sentimental token for a birthday present. Because, uh, that'll do. Thanks. Besides, it was a rather decent thing of him to make her feel...more sure of herself about it.

It paid off, and that was the surprising thing about it. Sure, it might've really benefited him. Maybe her as well. Neither of them were necessarily saints to each other with it to start, it was a business transaction.

It just happened to work out, right? Even if it all felt...a bit more important.

Here came another day, and a knock on her dorm room door. Might as well answer, she was the only one here. She didn't have many visitors, if barely at all. Definitely for one of her crazy roommates (that wasn't Alexis, because Alexis was alright).

She didn't expect to see Larix at her door, putting it that way. With a bouquet of...flowers? Uhm, a small perplexed glance appeared in her eyes.]

Larix? What are you doing here?

Heh.

[Because he can't start a simple conversation like a normal human being, he instead opens it with a dramatic spin on his heel before he thrusts the bouquet out in front of Riye's chest.]

You've waited patiently for this moment, and now I deliver! From my artistic soul to yours, a thank you for letting me bloom just as brilliantly as the flowers you see before you!

[And there it was. Riye just looked at the flowers, which coincidentally also meant looking at Larix. Any perplexed expression, any expression at all, would've faltered.

After a very slow blink, she finally spoke. As she also noticed the nightshade hidden in the roses.

No...he took her flower response seriously.

It began again. Like the Circle of Life. Mandate of Heaven, or Mandate of Hell? She felt a sick feeling in her gut.]

Deadly nightshade. Appropriate. Tasteful.

I knew you'd like them.

[What did she expect when using deadpan sarcasm on someone like him, anyway? She walked right into this.]

Anyway, I don't want to disrupt your creative process for too long. I understand writing scripts must take intense focus! I respect and admire that. And so...

[He makes a slow turn as if to leave...]

Nothing gets passed you, does it?

[So here she was. Holding this rather pretty, sure, but extremely awkward bouquet. She was literally about to leave it at that, as he was. Feeling old feelings of dealing with the inane and ridiculous side of the siblings yet again.

Oh, how fate twisted itself and-

-Wait, what? Hold on. No, Larix, you were not allowed to leave yet. Not after that.]

Uh, I haven't been writing a script since I sent you that one.

But... surely seeing your work brought to life on the stage ignited a passion in your heart! Surely you crave more.

[Surely she has to feel the same way he does. Like a recovering addict caught in a rapid backslide.

He knew he missed acting, but he never expected to feel a twinge of panic over something Riye's treating so casually.]

[She could feel it. Her senses were going off. This was heading into badlands territory. Riye noticed the curious twinge in his mood after her stating the fact she didn't work on another script.

This felt very, very wrong.]

Maybe it did. But after I did what was asked of me, now I feel like maybe I can work some more on my short stories. Some of my more personal projects.

[What the heck, he asked for tips on writing a best-selling autobiography, not a script to perform, but... he's not complaining about that, either.]

I see...

[No, he should be happy for her no matter what she's choosing to work on! ~Artist to artist.~ He's not going to selfishly beg for her to work on something he wants to do.

He flips his bangs to one side and flashes his best smile.]

I support your creative endeavours. Pursue your passions, and let your heart flourish as well...

[To which she would point out how he gave her NOTHING to begin to work with in the slightest, so she gave him an upstart into applying his dramatic prowess to soon be able to create something TO write about potentially. That would be, of course, if he ever disclosed any personal information. Ever. To work out ANY of those things.

That wasn't this fake, phony nonsense.

Like this, right now? She wasn't buying it. Just when she thought there was something, ANYTHING honest in him. She felt like she was practically lied to in her face. She hated that.]

Do you? I'm beginning to believe otherwise.

[Has she been hanging around Yotsuba a little too often? This kind of hostility to his heartfelt support is something he'd expect from his gloomy brother, but not from Riye. Larix takes an uneasy step back, completely thrown off his groove.]

What? But I mean it...
