Being antisocial meant she had a lot of hangups when it came to being cautionary. So...finding people she liked tended to be, um, hard.
She wanted to give Mal the benefit of the doubt, which was something she rarely gave. Words were sometimes hard to convey when speaking, after all she had that expression and monotone. Not many people, unless if they really knew her, would understand an actual change from the default. At least with written words, she could at least convey it a little better. If by "better", it meant second guessing was easier to do.
She didn't want to screw this up. She tried to not be reactionary, stay frank. She lived here for too long to throw in the towel so fast about this particular thing.]
